Our Founders

Hans Backhoff is a master winemaker. He holds degrees in Industrial Food Engineering from the
Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey, an MBA from Cardiff University in the United Kingdom, and a Master's degree in Oenology from the Université Victor Segalen in Bordeaux, France. His extensive work experience includes work at the Chateau Lafite Rothschild, Chateau
Calon Segur, Chalone Wine and SALIP. Hans is also the CEO of Monte Xanic, a winery that his father founded with his friends in 1987, and today known as a leading national winemaker in Mexico.

Yocelyn Biancamano is an expert in ethological agriculture. Through her consultancy, We Speak Organic, she helps Mexican farmers adopt and implement organic programs approved for export by the US Food & Drug Administration (FDA). As a former winemaker, Yocelyn helped build from scratch Mexico's first organic and biodynamic winery: Viñas del Sol. She assists farm operations with their organic system plans, including La
Lomita, La Carrodilla and Monte Xanic.
