Our History

We founded Destilería Revés in 2018, drawing parallels between our winemaking experiences and our passion for spirits. One evening sipping whiskey while enjoying the sunset over the Pacific Ocean in Ensenada, we were baffled by the lack of spirits other than tequila being made in Mexico. We especially saw a lack of corn-based spirits, considering that corn is such an important culinary ingredient in Mexico.

Why Revés? The name Revés comes from a wordplay between Back-hoff and Bianca-mano, our two founding families. “Back” combined with “Mano” forms “Backhand” in English and “Revés” in Spanish. Voilà!
